(mild spoilers for supernatural here)

Heyy :3 Yeah, I was in drawing mood today :giggle:. Finished watching Supernatural yesterday so I'm finally up to date on that and don't have to stare at my list and think "hey, I still need to watch aaaaaall that". Yay. I must say that I really love the show but I think it kinda lacks strong female characters? no? I'm the only one that thinks that? Supernatural could totally use somebody like Merida here. Or Jo back. I want Jo back, I loved Ellen and Jo and I think their death wasn't really necessary...Other than that I guess most of that fandom is more into shipping Dean and Cas or Dean and Sam...which is kinda not my thing somehow, both of them though I can understand why they do it...

Anyway! Here you have Merida from the movie 'BRAVE'. Which I loved so much :la:. It's been a while since the release, yeah, I know. But today I saw a gif of small Merida and I totally had to draw her, she's so very adorable :meow:!! After I finished I noticed that she looked older than in the screen I've used as inspiration...I really have to get the hang of drawing kids to look their age :/. Just imagine she's a little older here xD. I know I messed up her hair, it's way more realistic in the film but hey, I had fun with it :D. I find it so impressive that they seriously had two programs JUST for that hair. And it sure paid off, I kept staring at it through the whole movie :D. Also tried the painting style again, I think I'm starting to get used to it a little :) Oh and before you ask, that red thing on her thing is just reflected light ^^. urgh I still don't like her hair but I didn't have the patience for more ;_; Please don't bash me for my impatience and incompetence to draw this crazy Merida-hair :XD:.

Well, enjoy!!
Love ya ~ :tighthug:

All in all it looks great.^^
I like the hair with its many variants of red/orange and its 'puffiness'^^. The eyes are great, too. The coloring and the gleam of them fits the subject perfectly.
But the shadows are far to soft. Her head looks so shapeless this way. The nose almost isn't visible at all 'cept for the nostrils.
You should work with much harder contrasts. They won't turn the pic too dark, they'll help to give it a feel of the 3 dimensions.
Also, you should decide the direction from which the light originates and place light, shadows and highlights accordingly.
The head and the body, for example. The head seems to be illuminated from dead ahead in contrary to the body, where the light seems to come from the upper left.
Hope I wasn't too harsh. Hope that'll help.^^
